Alain Gelin

Dr. Alain Gelin is Senior Equipment engineer at TOTAL E&P Headquarters in Pau, France. He is involved in the development schemes for compression, pumping, and power generation systems and he supports Projects and site troubleshooting as well. He is also deeply involved in qualifications programs for new equipment and his expertise covers all mechanical aspects such as rotor dynamics, aerodynamics, lubrication, magnetic bearings, stress and modal analysis, LNG compressors, testing, condition monitoring, and much more. He joined TOTAL in 2005, and previously worked for GE Oil & Gas (formerly Thermdoyn) for 20 years successively R&D Mechanical Engineer and Testing Department Manager for both Steam Turbine and Centrifugal Compressor applications. He has authored 15+ technical papers in dynamics and he is a member of the IFToMM committee. Dr. Gelin obtained his Master’s degree (1986) and his PhD. (1989) at INSA Lyon.
