ATGI

John F. Justak is the president of Advanced Technologies Group, Inc. (ATGI). He has more than 30 years of experience developing new technology in high-speed turbomachinery. Achievements range from the development of a 1,000,000 rpm reverse-Brayton turbo expander for satellite applications to cryogenic turbo pumps on the space shuttle. High speed rotor support systems utilized fluid film bearings, hydrostatic bearings and a unique electromagnetic bearing. As the founder of ATGI, he led the effort to improve the efficiency of military and commercial gas turbine engines by reducing secondary flow losses, and he conceived and put into operation a unique ram-air-turbine-driven power generation system. He is the inventor of 17 patented technologies, including dynamic pressure-balanced seals, active balancing, high powered ram air turbines and optical sensors for monitoring the mass of cryogenic fluids in zero-gravity applications. He has authored several papers, has received accolades from the Florida Governor’s office for innovation, and received a national award for outstanding contributions to the SBIR program. He received his B.S. from The Florida Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from The University of Florida.
